UNION - Mary Ruth “Susie” Bates Holmes, 50, of 527 Toluca St., Union died July 7, 2008 in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
A native of Union County, she was the daughter of the late Linder Beaty and the late Nancy Lee Greene Bates. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, a 1976 graduate of Union High School, attended Johnson C. Smith University and was an employee of Renfro Corporation Whitmire Plant.
Survivors include two daughters, Danica Bates and Scoshia Holmes both of the home; two brothers, William Kent Bates and Albert Bates both of Union; and three grandchildren, Dancourius Glenn and Mabrya Glenn both of the home and Alexia Kershaw of Jonesville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Society Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The Union High School Class of 1976 is asked to serve as floral and casket bearers.
The family will receive friends at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Bridget Bates, 409 Stutts Ave.
Arrangements are with the Michael A. Glenn Funeral Home, 2212 Santuc Carlisle Highway.
