POMARIA - Eugene Glenn Fowler, 84, of Pomaria, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at his residence.
Born in Newberry on Aug. 31, 1923, he was a son of the late J. Steadman and Hattie Geiger Fowler.
Mr. Fowler was an Army veteran of World War II having served as a Sergeant in Company L of the 47th Infantry 9th Division from July 14, 1943-Feb. 2, 1945 in Sicily, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was retired from Asbestos Local # 92, was a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Mt. Pleasant Hunt Club and Peak Masonic Lodge #151 AFM. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men's Club and the 55+ Group.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Berley Fowler; sons, Dennis (Vicki) Fowler of Knoxville, Tenn. and Paul (Tina) Fowler of Pomaria; a daughter, Gayle (Duane) Harris of Pomaria; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Raymond Smith and special neighbors and friends, Mike and June Ruff.
Services were held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. Marian Dyer. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
