CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Memorial service of Mrs. Ruby Grant Waters will be conducted on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-3 p.m., followed by the memorial service.
Mrs. Waters died Sunday, May 25, 2008. Born in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Julian Grant and the late Grace F. Grant. She attended Allen A. M. E. Church in White Plains, N.Y. for several years. Mrs. Waters earned a BA in social science and psychology from Bennett College. Mrs. Waters taught in the New York City public school system for several years. She retired from the New York State Department of Labor in 1995. She was an active member of the Westchester County Chapter of the Bennett Alumnae Association.
Surviving are two sons, Warner W. Waters, III of Liberty, N.Y. and Robert G. Waters of Mooresville, N.C.; one daughter, Grace C. Ocasio of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Julian Grant of Easley and Dr. Arthur Grant of Spartanburg; one sister, Grace C. Gist of Greensboro, N.C.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
