The Rebels' baseball team will travel to Newberry for a 7 p.m. showdown. That game will be preceded by the JV game scheduled for 5 p.m. at Bill Harvey Field.
Mid-Carolina (4-0 Region III-2A) enters tomorrow's showdown after taking all of Spring Break off. The Rebels have not been in action since defeating Batesburg-Leesville 9-1 on March 20. They headed into the break with plenty of momentum after handing University of South Carolina signee James Rawls his first loss of the season.
The reigning 2-A Upper State champions hold a two-game lead in Region III-2A.
Newberry (0-4 Region III-2A) nearly pulled off a victory in its final region game before the break, at Ninety Six, before picking up a win at the Sandlapper Tournament.
The Bulldogs feature University of South Carolina at Salkehatchie signee Korey Ahrens at catcher.
The Rebels and Bulldogs will face each other in a softball game that will have early-season playoff implications for both.
The Rebels (3-1 Region III-2A) are currently tied with Batesburg-Leesville and Saluda in the loss column, while Newberry opened the region slate 3-2. The Bulldogs have lost both meetings this season with Saluda, and needs to win tomorrow to keep its hopes of a region championship alive.
A win Tuesday for the Rebels will keep them in at least a tie for the lead, while a loss could drop them to fourth in the region.
Game time for the varsity game is 7 p.m., while the JV's are slated to play at 5 p.m.
