Filing is final, all council seats opposed

Every member of County Council will have opposition during this year's elections.

Democrat Ellic W. Prince will face incumbent Republican Edgar Baker for the District 1 seat.

Incumbent Democrat John David Dawkins will face the winner of the Republican Primary between Steve Stockman and John Hunter for the District 2 seat.

District 4 will host primaries for both parties for the seat. In the Democratic primary, Wyman Cook and Kirksey Koon will face incumbent Mike Hawkins. Republicans Kenneth Sanders and Todd Morris will face off to hold the candidacy for their party.

In District 5, incumbent Democrat Henry Summer will face Republican Les Hipp.

For the auditor's position, Democrat Donna Lominick will face Republican Nancy Harvey.

In the race for treasurer, Republicans Benji Chapman and Jackie Haltiwanger will face off in a primary and the winner will challenge Democrat Karen Lindler in November.

Clerk of Court Jackie Bowers (D), Chief Deputy Coroner Tommy Hedgepath (R), Sheriff Lee Foster (D) State House District 40 Representative Walt McLeod (D) and State House District 15 Representative Jeff Duncan (R) will run unopposed.

Senator Ronnie Cromer (R) will face Democratic challenger Michael Ray Ellisor for the District 18 seat.
