WCS baseball stung by Hornets
The Whitmire baseball team fell to Dixie 12-6 last night on the road.
The Hornets raced out to a 4-1 lead through two innings, and blew the game open with five runs in the third. Whitmire answered with five runs of its own in the fourth, but couldn't get any closer.
Trevor Huneycutt was saddled with the loss for the Wolverines.
“We got off to a slow start,” Whitmire coach Chris Martin said. “Marcus Lindsay pitched well in relief, and we had several guys find a way on base multiple times. However, we are still having a difficult time putting an entire game together.”
The Wolverines will be back on the field tonight when they travel to Greenville Tech for a big region game. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
