OLA MAE METZE LONG

LITTLE MOUNTAIN - Ola Mae Metze Long, 98, of Little Mountain, widow of Jacob Carroll Long, died Feb. 28, 2008 at her residence.

Born in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late John Quincy and Bessie Lindler Metze. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the Young at Heart and the Golden Agers. She was the oldest member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church.

She is survived by daughters, Carolyn L. Torrence and Linda L. (John Daniel) Frick of Little Mountain; a son, Glenn (Janice) Long of Little Mountain; a brother, Elbert (Gertrude) Metze of Columbia; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters, Retha L. Richardson, Myrtis Dominick and Annie Rose L. Stockman, a great-grandson, Robert Preston Stockman and four sisters and three brothers.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Special Fund, 816 Mt. Tabor Rd., Little Mountain, SC 29075, the Little Mountain Rescue Squad, PO Box 8, Little Mountain, SC 29075 or Palmetto Health Hospice, PO Box 352, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers: Johnny Frick, Greg Frick, James Torrence, Keith Dominick, Kenny Stockman and Alan Stockman.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Palmetto Health Hospice, Patsy Sims and Dorothy Wheeler for their loving care.
