Dr. John Roche was honored with a reception Monday night at Whitmire Community School as he retired from 49 years on the Newberry County Board of Education, the longest in the state. Debi Bush, president of the SC School Boards Association, at right, and WCS principal Joey Haney, below, were just some of the people who turned out with gifts and gratitude.
