COLUMBIA - Elmer Wilson Jr., 67, of 1320 Carter St., Columbia, died Monday at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Elmer Wilson Sr. and the late Carrie Burnett Thacker Wilson.
He was a member of New Enoree Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his brother, Pete Wilson, and sister, Rosa A. Wise.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Morgan Wilson of the home; seven sons, Elmer J. Wilson of Columbia, Tyrone Wilson (Arlene) of Prosperity, Danny Joe Wilson of Prosperity, Tony Lee Wilson (Joan) of Columbia, Chris Henderson (Tina) of Newberry, Kim Henderson of Mauldin and Stanley Wilson of the home; six daughters, Brenda Nelson Gabelli (Robert) of Atlanta, Ga., Jan Gray (Kenny) of Prosperity, Angela Green (Henry) of Newberry, Elaine Henderson of Greenwood, Lisa Wells of Columbia and Ada Mae Coleman of Newberry; 34 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Wilson of Newberry; three sisters, Ada M. Wilson, Julia Caldwell, both of Newberry, and Patricia Richardson of Trenton; aunt, Fannie M. Hall of Newberry; sister-in-law, Patricia Davis of Columbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services and burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at New Enoree Baptist Church. Viewing will begin at noon.
The family will receive friends at 1320 Carter St., Columbia, and at the home of his sister, Ada M. Wilson, 1411 Mt. Bethel Garmany Road, Newberry.
