Thomas and Howard, a commercial restaurant supplier, opened a Cash and Carry store recently at the corner of Wilson and Smith Roads.
The business, which is owned by Thomas and Howard, sells to the public at wholesale prices, according to manager Clarke Kyzer.
The store is one of 11 like it in North and South Carolina, said Kyzer, who was born and raised in Newberry.
The store features food service items, candy, groceries, tobacco, restaurant needs and party items.
People can also place special orders, and the company will help churches and organization calculate the quantity they need.
“People will get all the help they need. We are a small business and have people the customers can talk to,” said Kyzer.
Some of the featured items at the business include paper table covers in a rainbow of colors, 15 varieties of seafood and fish, premade cobblers, Tasso ham, boneless ribeyes and prime rib, salad dressing, chicken breasts, tenders and wings, crackers, institutional cleaners, Octagon and Lava soaps, and a wide selection of paper products.
The store also has harder to find items like frog legs, quail, balsamic and rice vinegars, spices and capers.
The cash and carry also has coffee supplies for businesses.
Trucks arrive at the store three to five times a week.
The store's management hopes to start offering rentals such as popcorn, nacho and hotdogs machines, serving trays and other items.
Thomas and Howard Cash and Carry will hold its grand opening today through Friday.
The ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday and free hot dogs will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and food samples served throughout the event.
“I invite everyone to come look around,” says Kyzer.
The business is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
