Rain-soaked grounds and high winds brought down trees around the area on Wednesday.

A number of trees, limbs and other debris fell across the county during the winds Tuesday night and Wednesday and minor damages were reported.

By Wednesday afternoon, workers from local fire departments, the Department of Transportation and public works were busy cutting downed trees from roads.

Sheriff Lee Foster said no major damage was reported.

A teen and her father were driving on Mount Pleasant Road in the Pomaria area when their van went under a fallen pine tree.

The downed tree busted the windshield of the van, but other than being covered with glass, the two occupants did not receive any serious injuries.

A tree also fell on a home in Whitmire and minor wind damage was reported around the county.

Emergency Services Coordinator Tommy Long reminds the public the importance of staying back from downed lines, especially in rainy conditions where electrical current can travel in the standing water.
