Born on Aug. 27, 1949, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Levi S. and Rebecca Crumpton Koon.
Mr. Koon was an Army Veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was employed for a number of years with Eagle Construction and was a member of Bush River Baptist Church. Mr. Koon was an avid fan of dirt track car racing.
He is survived by a son, Robby Koon, of Clinton; a daughter, Cindy Lee Koon, of Hollywood; grandchildren, Hunter Michael Horton and Joshua Bradley Horton; sisters, Jeriah Boulware and Annette Rikard both of Newberry, Sara Lipe of Prosperity, and Maria Shemiah, of Sandusky, Ohio; and brothers, Jeff (Karen Long) Koon, of Newberry, Donald (Robin) Koon, of Great Falls, and Henry (Debbie) Koon, of Kinards.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Bush River Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery
The family will be at the home of Jeff Koon, 1146 Circle Road, Newberry and received friends from 6:30 — 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Whitaker Funeral Home.
