The victory wrapped up a three-game in two day stretch that included two losses to teams in higher classifications.
The Bulldogs fell to 4-A power South Pointe 78-40 Monday morning and were defeated 49-41 to Groves High from Savannah, Ga.
Newberry will get one more turn up before opening region play when it hosts Fairfield Central tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
That game will be preceded by the Newberry-Fairfield Central girls’ game at 6 p.m.
Newberry will begin region play next Friday when it hosts Saluda.
Rebels travel to McCormick
Mid-Carolina will return to action after the Christmas break tonight when it travels to McCormick.
Game time for the girls’ game is set for 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
The boys have been off since playing in a tournament in Georgia the week before Christmas.
The girls went 1-1 and finished third in this week’s Lady Bulldog Classic at Newberry High School.
Newberry men close out 2008 with OT win

The Newberry College men’s basketball put the wraps on the 2008 holiday season Tuesday, as it battled to a 76-74 overtime victory against St. Andrews Presbyterian in Eleazer Arena.
Newberry (9-2) was led by a solid all-around performance from senior point guard Vytautas Valiulis (Vilnius, Lithuania), who scored a season-high 16 points to go with six assists, five rebounds and five steals without turning the ball over in the contest.
Grant Domsic (Winter Garden, Fla) scored 14 points off the bench, including a crucial jumper in the lane in overtime that tied the game up for the 11th time. Brett Goodwell (Inglewood, Calif.) scored 11 points, including the game-winning tip-in with 1:07 left in overtime, and also grabbed eight rebounds.
Jesse Wheeler (Suwanee, Ga.) also scored 11 points, while Clemente Martin (Freeport, Bahamas) rounded out double-digit scorers with 10 points and eight rebounds.
St. Andrews (2-6) was paced by a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench from senior guard Joesph Gripper (Charlotte, N.C.). Zack Garst (Huntersville, N.C.) scored 16 points and Colby Poe (Bennettsville) netted 12.
Newberry closes a seven game homestand tomorrow at 4 p.m., when it returns to South Atlantic Conference play against Carson-Newman College. St. Andrews plays at Lees-McRae tomorrow.
