PROSPERITY — The Town of Prosperity kicked off the holidays on Saturday by hosting their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Shopper’s Walk.

Mayor Derek Underwood welcomed everyone in attendance and encouraged them to browse through the various vendors that were set up. He also encouraged attendees to grab a bite to eat or browse through other shops down Main Street during the Shopper”s Walk.

Upon a reciting of the story of Christ’s birth, entertainment was provided by the Mid-Carolina High School Chorus, they performed holiday classics such as “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” and “Carol of the Bells.”

The MCHS Chorus sang in the official tree lighting countdown during a performance of “Silent Night” and on the third verse of the song, the tree was officially lit, followed by a performance of the holiday classic “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
