NEWBERRY — Newberry College senior inside linebacker Taylor McDonnell has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

McDonnell, a native of Bluffton, earns conference player of the week honors for the second time this season. He had nine tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in the Wolves’ 26-0 shutout win at Wingate to close the regular season.

All of his tackles were solo stops and one of his two sacks resulted in a safety the help the playoff-bound Wolves extend an early advantage. He also forced a fumble in the contest.
