NEWBERRY — Newberry College quarterback Raleigh Yeldell has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week, as released by the conference office Monday.
Yeldell, a junior from Edgefield and graduate of Strom Thurmond HS, was masterful in the Wolves’ 52-14 rout of rival Lenoir-Rhyne. He completed 18-of-25 passes (72 percent) for 265 yards and four touchdowns with one interception.
It was his third straight game with over 250 yards passing. He also picked up 57 yards rushing and a reception for 27 yards as Newberry rolled to victory. Yeldell has 9 touchdown passes in his last two games.
Yeldell was previously named the Corvias ECAC Division II Offensive Player of the Week after the Wolves’ win over Brevard, and will be eligible for that award once again this week.
For the season in six games played, Yeldell has completed 92-of-144 passes for 1,004 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. He has also carried the ball 45 yards for 264 yards and four touchdowns and has two receptions for 53 yards.
