NEWBERRY – Newberry College (3-11, 0-5 ECAC) lose to Lindenwood University (9-6, 5-0 ECAC) by a score of 6-1 at Newberry College Saturday morning.

The Wolves hit the score board first in the opening minutes with a goal from Meghan Smiga at the 5:23 minute mark. Smiga carried the ball into the circle and scored on a backhand. Newberry would hold on to the lead in the first half depict only taking one shot.

The Lions notched six shots that were either wide or saved by Wolves goalkeeper Dakota Elyz.

Lindenwood scored all six goals in the second half, three of them coming within seven minutes of each other. The first and second goal was scored by Amelia Rodriguez at 42:25 and 45:54. Tara Robben scored the third goal at the 49:22 minute mark.

Ashton Lichvar scored the fourth goal off a deflection from Victoria Buysschaert shot from the top of the arc. Chloe Bell then scored on her opportunity with a little tap in after a breakaway. Graycen Dave scored the sixth goal at the 68:11 minute mark when she took a pass from Linda Bonagura.

The Lions tallied 17 shots, 14 of them on goal while notching 12 penalty corners. Tara Robben led the way in shots for the Lions with six and five on goal. Greta Banholzer was next with four shots and three on goal. Amelia Rodriguez led the team with two goals.

The Wolves tallied nine shots, three on goal and took five penalty corners. Killanna Waiz and Courtlyn Warren each tallied three shots.
