PINEVILLE, Ky. – The Newberry College men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished in 12th place at the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Championships, held at the Waisoto Winds GC on Saturday.

The event completes the Wolves’ season.

Men’s race

Charlie Cook led the Wolves, as he has for every race this season. He finished 49th with a time of 27:53.3 in the 8-kilometer race.

Caleb Bouwkamp was two places behind Cook at 27:58.0 in 51st. Peter Hackett was 71st at 29:12.9, Robert Stafford was 73rd at 29:42.8 and Seth Howe rounded out Newberry scorers with a 78th place finish at 30:18.1.

Queens won the men’s team competition, breaking a streak of 19 straight conference championships from Mars Hill, who finished second.

Women’s race

Danielle Cruz led the Wolves in 48th place with a time of 21:25.4 in the 5-kilometer event. Michelle Ling was 70th at 22:19.5.

Makaylyn Higgins was 82nd at 23:27.9, Diana Terrell was 84th at 23:56.6 and Rebecca Burkhardt was 85th at 24:03.7.

Wingate won the women’s team competition.
