PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina Little League hosted the state tournament for the Intermediate Baseball (ages 13 & under) on July 9 and July 10 at Stoney Hill Ball Field in Prosperity.

The three teams competing for the state title were Newport from York County, Kingstree from Williamsburg County and Mid-Carolina from the Mid-Carolina area.

Three games were played Saturday, and one on Sunday with Mid-Carolina going 3-0. Newport was 1-2 and Kingstree finished 0-3. The championship game was played Sunday afternoon with MC defeating Newport for the state title, following a rain delay.

On Saturday, MC defeated Newport 20-10, Newport defeated Kingstree 19-16, and MC defeated Kingstree 22-2. In Sunday’s championship game, MC defeated Newport 6-1 to win the state title.

In Mid-Carolina’s first game, Preston Bookman (4 for 5), Bryson Holland (4 for 5), Tyrek Wicker, Colby Haralson, and Harmon Vinson all hit a homerun. The batteries for MC were Tyrek Wicker and Jack Dominick with Al Farmer handling the catching duties.

In Mid-Carolina’s second game on Saturday, Jacob Sease (3 for 5) hit a home run as did Preston Bookman (3 for 5) and Colby Haralson. Bryson Holland got three walks and a hit. The batteries for all five innings was Stanton Hester pitching and Al Farmer catching.

In Mid-Carolina’s final game on Sunday, Jacob Sease got 2 walks, Al Farmer got 2 hits, and Bryson Holland got 1 hits and 2 walks. Preston Bookman and Colby Haralson handled the pitching with Al Farmer behind the plate.

Mid-Carolina will travel to Apopka, Fla., to represent South Carolina in the Southeast Regional Tournament. The ultimate winner will travel to California for the World Series title. To keep up with the tournament results, tune in the Mid Carolina Little League Facebook page.

The team is coached by Morgan Sease, head coach; Chris Metts, assistant coach; and Rusty Farmer, assistant coach. The team consists of Colby Haralson, Al Farmer, Jacob Sease, Stanton Hester, Harmon Vinson, Ian Willetts, Bryson Holland, Preston Bookman, Tyrek Wicker, Caleb Fulmer, Noah Spinks, Jack Dominick, and Phillip Livingston.
