NEWBERRY — Newberry College head men’s soccer coach Bryce Cooper has announced seven new additions to the Wolves’ program for the 2016 season.

Joining the Wolves’ signing class are Fabrizio Bucco Carrillo, Oliver Inscoe IV, Nate Kaminski, Tarek Malz, Jamie McAvoy, James Robinson and Claus Simonsen Lehland.

These seven signees join Eric Brody, Quintin Eisner, Bryce Holdman and Fredrik Kvifte as Cooper’s initial signing class.

Fabrizio Bucco Carrillo – Forward – Guayaquil, Ecuador

“Fabrizio is a savvy attack-minded player who can play as a true No. 10 as well as almost anywhere else along the front line. He is a technical, pacey player who can create his own shot, but also has the quality to put in that final ball. He has fantastic movement and interchange off the ball and will be a handful for defenders to track. I’m excited to see the new dimension he brings to our attack and how he will make the other players around him better,” Cooper said.

Fabrizio spent the 2015 season at Ave Maria University where he lead the team in total points with 19 from nine goals and an assist. He has played for some of the better youth clubs all over the world including Udinese Calcio in Italy, River Plate in Ecuador and Barcelona S.C. in Ecuador. His club teams have won several major tournaments including the “El Universo” Cup and the “Asoguayas Championship” in Ecuador.

Oliver Inscoe IV – Defender – Douglasville, Ga.

“Oliver came to us late in the recruiting process, but after getting to know him I knew he had the right attitude and desire to help this program. He is a hard-working, quick defender with a good left foot who will bring value to our program both on and off the field,” Cooper said.

Oliver is a three-year varsity letterwinner for Douglas County HS where the team won a regional championship in 2014. He has played club soccer the past few seasons for the Georgia Storm and prior to that for the Southern Soccer Association.

Nate Kaminski – Defender – Marietta, Ga.

“I saw Nate play at a showcase in Greensboro, N.C., and immediately thought he would be a good fit for our program. He’s a strong, athletic versatile defender that has good leadership potential. I expect him to be a steady, hard-working and reliable player for this program over his four years,“ Cooper said.

Nate most recently played for the North Atlanta Soccer Association (NASA) U18 Elite team from Marietta, Ga., where he was the starting center back and captain. His team played in some major college showcases including the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) Showcase, Disney and the Surf Cup. Kaminski was a four-year starting defender and two-year captain for Harrison HS. Nate was named to the all-Cobb County first team defense.

Tarek Malz – Defender – Satrup, Germany

“Tarek is a hard nosed 1-v-1 defender who prides himself on being tough and good on the tackle. He comes from a great background and has played at a good level over in Germany. He has a great soccer IQ and reads the game at a high level. Tarek will help us be a much improved defensive team and give us that controlled toughness we’ve been missing,“ Cooper said.

Malz played for FC Angeln 02 in the German Verbandsliga league (the sixth tier of German football). He has been voted player of the week three times this season and was named ‘best player on team’ seven times in the 2014-15 season. Malz has made several All-Star and All Regional teams from 2004-07 during his time with his club Kreisliga. He won four Regional Indoor Cups with FC Angeln 02 (2011-14) and won the prestigious Indoor Audi-Cup in 2014.

Jamie McAvoy – Central Midfielder – Ayr, Scotland

“Jamie is a smart, hard-working player who sees the field well and is tactically very sound. He can play anywhere in the central midfield and is able to cover a lot of ground with his high engine and outstanding fitness. He is a very mature young man and understands the expectations and goals we have for the program. He will be a great representative of Newberry both domestically and abroad for the next four years and beyond,” Cooper said.

McAvoy most recently played club soccer for Girvan Junior FC. Prior to that has played for some of the better clubs in Scotland including Celtic FC, Girvan Youth and Ayr United FC.

James Robinson – Forward/Winger – Ladson, S.C.

“James is an athletic, hard-working player who has a very high ceiling. He didn’t start playing in a more competitive environment until a later age and has made tremendous strides in recent years. From the beginning of his recruitment, you could tell that he really wanted to be at Newberry and bleeds scarlet and gray. He will be a great addition to our program and has a bright future ahead of him,” Cooper said.

Before moving to South Carolina, James lived in Chester, Va., where he played club soccer for Chesterfield United and at Thomas Dale HS. Since moving to South Carolina he played club soccer for Goose Creek United and for Fort Dorchester HS, where he’s been on the varsity team the past two years.

Claus Simonsen Lehland – Defender/Winger – Bergen, Norway

“I’m very excited about working with Claus. He is a talented left-footed player who can play almost anywhere. He is a great ball striker and fantastic free-kick taker and will give us another dimension that this program has lacked on set pieces. He comes from a good background and is accustomed to playing at a high level against professional-type players. He should come in and make an immediate impact on the field,” Cooper said.

Most recently played club soccer for IL Sandviken in the Norweigan fourth division. Prior to that he played for FK Jerv and has been in the top five on his team in total points the last several years based on goals and assists.
