JOHNSTON — The Mid-Carolina Rebels will do battle with the Strom Thurmond Rebels in the first round of the playoffs. Kick off is at 7:30 p.m.

Mid-Carolina, 4-6 in the regular season, will travel to Johnston as the other Rebels finished 9-1.

“They’re very good,” said Mid-Carolina head coach Louis Alexander.

The MCHS defense will need to pay special attention to containing Strom Thurmond’s quarterback and wide outs, said Alexander.

After dropping their final game of the season to Fairfield Central, Mid-Carolina had a bye week to prepare and get healthy for tonight.

“We’ve had eight solid days to get better,” Alexander said.

Seemingly immune to the playoff-hype, Alexander’s strategy boils down to the essentials of football.

“What it all comes down to is blocking and tackling and who can make a play and who can’t,” he said.
