WHITMIRE — The Whitmire High School Wolverines fell to the St. Joseph’s Catholic High School Knights 34-14 Monday night. The game was postponed from Friday due to the weather conditions from the previous weekend.

The Knights scored the first touchdown of the night with a two-yard run with four minutes left in the first quarter. The point after the touchdown was successful, and the score stood 7-0.

The Wolverines made their first touchdown during the second quarter when John Burnside made a nine yard pass to West Jenkins. The two point conversion by Jenkins was a success, and the Wolverines led 8-7.

The Knights made a 35-yard touchdown run with five minutes to go in the first quarter. The PAT failed, but again led 13-8. They scored again in the second quarter with only 48 seconds left on the clock. They made a successful two point conversion and the score going into halftime was 21-8.

The Wolverines made the first touchdown of the second half when Austin Jenkins made a one yard touchdown with only two minutes left in the third quarter. However, the two point conversion was not successful. Not even a minute later the Knights made a 10 yard touchdown run with a successful PAT. The score by the fourth quarter stood at 28-14.

The Knights made the final score of the night when they made a six yard run in the fourth quarter. However, the PAT was not successful and the game ended 34-14.

Both teams now have an overall record of 4-3.

Whitmire will host Southside Christian for Homecoming on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
