WINNSBORO — A potential game-tying two-point play fell short in the final two minutes of the game as Newberry fell to Fairfield central, 29-27 in Winnsboro.
Yafari Werts scored his fourth career touchdown with his 60 yard touchdown run. He would throw a 63 yarder to Zy Towns in the second quarter. Newberry opened the second half with an over nine minute drive with Amir Abrams scoring from a yard out. Abrams also scored from three yards out to cut the griffin lead to two.
