Rebel boys start season

PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina High School went 1-1 at home earlier this week to open their new basketball season.

A lead that went back-and-forth between the two teams on Tuesday ended up with the Rebels on the winning side of a 70-58 victory over Pelion.

Jack Edwards scored 19, Aynsley Bowers (18) and Tyrone Coleman scored 12.

Elsewhere, CC Boyd had 11 points, Rod Byrd (seven) and Kaleb Boland finished with three points.

Batesburg-Leesville took the lead for good in the latter stages of the first quarter for their 44-33 victory on Wednesday.

Bowers had a game high 13 points, Byrd (nine), Boland (five), Coleman (three), Boyd scored two points, while Jerel Dewalt scored one point.
