PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina High School “Lady Rebels” opened their 2017-18 basketball season earlier this week as they went 1-1 in 24 hours.

On Tuesday, they never trailed in a 56-30 victory over Pelion.

The Lady Panthers were held to single digit scoring in the first three quarters of play.

Nia Hall scored 25 points, while Gracen Hester had 12.

Also, Mary Helen Alford scored six points, Jill Edwards (four), Ashlyn Stanley (three), while Jesse Morris, Kayla Tobe and Katie Coker had two points apiece.

On Wednesday, the third-ranked Batesburg-Leesville Lady Panthers never trailed in their 60-41 victory.

The Lady Rebels had their strongest showing in the fourth quarter as they combined to score 16 points.

Hester scored all but three of her 16 points in the second half.

Hall finished with 14 points, Tobe (three), Sania Williams, Stanley and Bryatisha Mathis had two points apiece, while Tia Goode and Alford had a lone free-throw apiece.
