WHITMIRE — The Whitmire High School Wolverines were defeated by the Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High School Trojans 50-10 in the first round of the playoffs.

The first quarter saw the Trojans take the lead when they scored a touchdown on a 6o-plus-yard run, followed by another trip to the house with a 53-yard run.

The Trojans opted to go for two in both cases ending the first quarter 16-0.

The Wolverines made it on the board in the second with a safety thanks to an intentional grounding call. They capitalized on the two points with a touchdown five minutes in, thanks to Jaylen Brown.

Chandler Crumley made a successful two-point conversion and the Wolverines were on the board with 10 points.

The Trojans responded with another touchdown, with two minutes to go in the half. With no one willing to take a shot at the goal posts, another successful two point conversion ended the half 30-10.

At the start of the third quarter the Trojans put up another six with 11:25 on the clock. They made the two point conversion once again and increased their lead 38-10. However, the Wolverines did not take this lightly and their defense prevented the Trojans from scoring anymore in the third quarter.

The Trojans were able to get past the Wolverines’ defense in the fourth quarter with 10 minutes on the clock, making another touchdown. The two point conversion was shut down by the Wolverine special teams.

With about six minutes left in the game, the Trojans scored again, giving them another six. With that, the Trojans won 50-10.

The Wolverines end their season with a 4-6 overall record.
