DAHLONEGA, GA. — Newberry tied for 12th in a 16-team field at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial on Tuesday, hosted by the University of North Georgia at Achasta Golf Club.

The Wolves were unable to replicate Monday’s successes in the final round, finishing in 332 strokes to finish the tournament 73 strokes over par. The Wolves were tied with South Atlantic Conference foe Catawba. Fellow SAC schools Lenoir-Rhyne and Lincoln Memorial finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with Tusculum landing in seventh position.

Lee, which advanced out of the NCAA South Super Regional hosted by Newberry and into its first NCAA Championships in May, bested host North Georgia by 19 strokes for its first win of the 2017-18 season. Young Harris finished a shot behind the Nighthawks at 30 over par for third.

The Wolves were led on the day by Nabila Inak, whose seven-over 79 propelled her into a tie for 48th place at 17 over par. Her day included 11 pars and a birdie on the 430-yard, par-five 15th.

Taylor Lance was one stroke ahead of Inak for the tournament to finish in a tie for 43rd and lead Newberry. Johana Lunackova and Aubrey Guyton landed at 19 and 21 over par, respectively, while Brette Bryant rounded out the Newberry contingent.

Lee’s Haverly Harrold was the individual medalist, firing a one-under 143 for the tournament to become the only golfer to finish under par. Lee placed all four of its scorers in the top 10. Katie Tomassoni was the top finisher among SAC competitors in attendance, landing in a tie for third at three over par. Lincoln Memorial’s Dominika Czudkova was even on the day to finish in eighth.

Newberry returns to action in two weeks in Elgin as the Wolves host the annual Newberry College Invitational at the Members Club at Woodcreek, in Northeast Columbia.
