CLINTON — The Newberry women’s tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Division I Presbyterian on Wednesday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts. With the win, the Blue Hose snapped Newberry’s six-match winning streak.

The Wolves (11-4) were able to win the No. 1 doubles match against the Blue Hose (10-4) as Elizabeth Williamson and Amanda Carrillo defeated their opponents by a 6-3 final. Presbyterian took the final two doubles matches to win the team doubles point under Division I scoring rules.

Marta Gomar put up a tough fight at the No. 3 singles flight, eventually dropping a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 decision. PC swept through the rest of singles play in straight sets.

The Wolves were also defeated by PC in the 2014-15 season, dropping a 7-0 decision.
