NEWBERRY — Newberry College senior pitcher Devon Morrison has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played Jan. 30 through Feb. 5.
Morrison, a senior from Tampa, Fla., pitched 7.0 shutout innings in game two against Lees-McRae on Feb. 4. She allowed just one hit while striking out seven batters to pick up her first win of the season. Morrison posted a 2.52 ERA and recorded 10 wins last season.
Newberry will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Francis Marion for a non-conference doubleheader. Game times from Smith Road Complex are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
