NEWBERRY — The Newberry women’s basketball team has moved up to No. 2 in the Southeast Region Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Poll.

Newberry came in at No. 5 in the first poll released by D2SIDA last week.

The Wolves are off to a 3-0 start this season in wins over Belmont Abbey, Limestone, and Armstrong State. It is the first time Newberry has began the season with three straight wins since winning five straight to open up the 2014-15 season.

The Limestone Saints still sit at the No. 1 spot in the rankings despite the Wolves 62-56 win on Nov. 12.

Newberry vaulted over Wingate who was previously in the No. 2 position. The Bulldogs fell back one spot into a third-place tie with Lander University.

Lincoln Memorial crept into the top 10 after not being ranked in the first poll released on Nov. 14. The Anderson Trojans held their spot at No. 8, which puts four South Atlantic Conference teams in the D2SIDA Southeast Regional Poll.
