NEWBERRY — Newberry has risen five spots in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Poll to No. 14 following its dramatic come-from-behind victory over Wingate to clinch the outright conference championship.

Newberry made the biggest jump of any team in the poll this week with its 27-22 win that locked up a playoff bid for the Wolves.

Braxton Ivery was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns, finishing with 74 yards on eight carries, and catching four passes for another 71 yards.

The Wolves will make their fourth-ever playoff appearance this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Setzler Field. Second-seeded Newberry hosts No. 7 seed Tuskegee in the opening round.
