NEWBERRY — The No. 19 ranked Wolves are set to take on Wingate this weekend, as Newberry looks to claim the South Atlantic Conference title outright after clinching at least a share of the championship vs. Lenoir-Rhyne two weeks ago.

All fans are encouraged to wear scarlet to the game, which will be televised on the American Sports Network as part of the Division II Football Showcase.

The game’s inclusion on Division II’s national television package, the second time Newberry has been featured on the Showcase this season, solidifies the match-up as one of the nation’s most pivotal games on the final week of the season.

Extra bleachers will be positioned in the end zone in anticipation of an enormous crowd. Newberry hopes the scarlet-clad faithful will create a significant home-field advantage, aiding the Wolves in their quest to equal the school record with 10 consecutive wins, notch a 10th straight SAC victory, and become the 16th team in the history of the league to win the conference championship with an undefeated record.

The Wolves are looking to protect their No. 19 national ranking and No. 2 slot in the Super Region 2 rankings. Newberry would host a first-round game of the NCAA Division II Football Championship on Nov. 19 by retaining a top-four ranking in Super Region 2, while retaining the No. 2 slot would guarantee another game at Setzler Field Nov. 26 should the Wolves advance in the playoffs.

Kickoff between the Wolves and Bulldogs on Saturday is slated for 3:30 p.m.
