PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Rebels are now 0-9 in the season after being defeated by the Woodruff Wolverines 56-7 Friday night. The Rebels sit with a 0-4 record in region play.

“It was bad. We didn’t play well on both sides of the ball and on special teams as well,” Head Coach Louie Alexander said. “Offensively, we couldn’t get anything going. We turned it over a couple of times and special teams fumbled a couple returns. It just wasn’t a good night.”

This week, Alexander plans to keep the team pushing forward to prepare for Newberry on Friday.

“We’ve battled through some adversity,” he said. “I told the kids we only have four days of practice left and they owe it to themselves to get better in those four days and that’s what we’re looking to do.”

Friday night, the Rebel host to the Newberry High School Bulldogs in a 7:30 p.m. face off.

Newberry is going into this game fresh off a win against the Chapman High School Panthers last week. The Bulldogs are currently 6-3 overall and are 3-1 in region play.

“Newberry does everything well. I mean, they are very good offensively as far as running the football,” he said. “They are very physical on both sides of the ball. Athletically, they are as good, if not better than anybody we’ve played in the back end. We have nothing but respect for them.”
