NEWBERRY — Newberry College setter Maggie Marsh has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Marsh, a sophomore from Charleston, set up the Wolves’ offensive attack in a 2-0 week which saw Newberry upset No. 23 Wingate at Eleazer Arena.
Marsh posted a match-high 41 assists against Coker. She also notched a double-double with a match-high 35 assists and 11 digs against Wingate. She also recorded two aces and four kills to help Newberry snap a 50-match losing streak against the Bulldogs.
Marsh is currently fifth in the conference with 9.62 assists per set. She averaged 38 assists and nine digs per set during the week.
Meredith Jones from Queens won SAC Player of the Week honors.
The Wolves return to the road this week with three South Atlantic Conference matches. Newberry will face Anderson tonight at 7 p.m., Lincoln Memorial on Friday at 7 p.m. and Carson-Newman on Saturday at 5 p.m.
