PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Rebels will be traveling to Chapman High School tonight to face off against the Chapman High School Panthers.

Mid-Carolina is heading into this week after being handed a 45-7 loss against the Clinton High School Red Devils.

Football coach Louie Alexander said he was going back to the fundamentals in practice before tonight’s game.

“We’ve just been getting better up front on both sides of the ball. We went back to fundamental stuff and worked individually and in groups as opposed to team and try to get them better,” Alexander said.

Going into last week’s game, Alexander said that the team had a good week of practice but didn’t execute plays like he had wanted. This week, Alexander feels like they have had a good week of practice and are prepared for the Panthers.

“We’ve had a couple of games against them in the past 10 or 12 years that I’ve been coaching. We’ve both won a couple of games, but I don’t know the exact number. But they are pretty competitive.”

For the Rebels to bring home a win tonight, the team will need to play better up front and use their special teams. The Rebels are also hoping to see some of their injured players returning.

Terrell Long did not see any play action against Clinton, but may be ready to return for tonight’s game. The team is also playing without Joe Cook and may get Brody Harkins back for this week’s game.

“We are going to have to be, for lack of a better word, just as athletic and just as fast,” he said. “The big thing for us is we’re going to have to be a lot more physical up front.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Chapman High School.
