PROSPERITY — Last week, the Mid- Carolina Rebels fell to the Abbeville Panthers making the Rebels 0-4 for the season.

Tonight’s game against Broome is the first game of region play and Mid-Carolina Football Coach Louie Alexander wants to start off region play with a win.

“We have had a good week of practice. We have gone in and eliminated mistakes that were made last week and we have continued to work on our throwing and catching during practice,” he said.

But as Alexander has said before, as long as his kids go out there and compete and the effort is there, that’s all the coaching staff can ask for.

In last week’s match-up against Abbeville, the Rebels were short on players due to injuries. Two of those injuries included the Rebels starting offensive lineman Will Morse and Robert Macdonald.

“We won’t know until today (Thursday) if our injured players will play, but there is a chance,” he said.

During practice this week, the Rebels continued to put focus into their offensive and defensive line. Alexander said that the team has to have a better offense this week compared to last week.

Broome High School is coming off a 34-28 win against Byrnes High School and is 4-1 for the season. Kickoff is Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Mid-Carolina High School.
