NEWBERRY — The Newberry Bulldogs are back to work as they prepare to take on the Woodruff High School Wolverines tonight.

The Bulldogs, who are now 3-2, are coming back after a 20-7 loss against Fairfield Central High School.

Reflecting on the loss against Fairfield Central, Newberry High School Football Coach Phil Strickland said, “Overall, I think the defense competed well with the exception of a couple of plays. On offense, we just didn’t move the ball, so we just have to get better with that going into this game.”

On preparing the Bulldogs for Woodruff, Strickland said, “Woodruff runs a pretty unique offense and does a lot of stuff offensively that has given us an extra week to prepare for and we hope it works out for us.”

Newberry has played Woodruff a few times in the past since Strickland has been at Newberry, with the Bulldogs winning twice and Wolverines winning only once.

The Bulldogs will face off against the Woodruff High School Wolverines tonight in their first region game of the season. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at the newly renovated Mike Ware Field.
