PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina High School Rebels will be facing off against the Ninety Six High School Wildcats tonight. This will be the first time the two teams have played each other in about five or six years, according to Head Coach Louie Alexander.

The Rebels are currently 0-3 and the Wildcats are 0-4.

“I think this will be a very good football game. Defensively they are good, offensively they have spurts where they are good. They have big play potential. They are basically a lot like us,” Alexander said. “We are both looking for our first win.”

Last week’s game against Batesburg-Leesville left several players injured and unable to play during this week’s game.

“Last week was definitely a very physical game and we had a couple of freak injuries,” Alexander said.

Some of the players who are out include Corey Stone (quarterback), Damien Gorie and Devonta Wheeler. Jevon Boyd is day to day at the moment due to a rib injury from last week’s game, as is Jalen Bates-Caldwell with an ankle injury.

Alexander said other players are stepping up to fill those leadership roles.

The Wildcats are a spread run football team, with a very confident quarterback, tailback and very good skill players, according to Alexander.

“We definitely are going to have to play our responsibilities better than we have been the last couple of weeks. We’ve got to stop giving up big plays and stop doing other peoples’ jobs and do our own. We also have to tackle a lot better,” he said. “We are trying to simplify some things. We got to a point we were trying too much. We are going to simplify what we are doing, and going back to our roots when we began the spread system.”

Tonight’s game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. in Prosperity.
