WHITMIRE — The Whitmire High School Wolverines will be traveling to Branchville tonight to play the Branchville High School Yellow Jackets. The Wolverines are currently 1-3 and the Yellow Jackets are 1-2.

“Their (Branchville) school is only about 10 years old. We have played them two times, my first two years. We won both games,” Head Coach Charlie Jenkins said.

In 2014 the Wolverines defeated the Yellow Jackets 29-28 on a last minute pass. Last year the Wolverines won 30-0 during a rain shortened contest.

The Yellow Jackets have a new coach this year, Sandy Dukes. Dukes has implemented a new offensive strategy for the team, which is based on the no-huddle style of play. This new strategy will use a pistol offense with wing-T principals. On defense, the Yellow Jackets have transitioned to a 4-3 base set.

Tonight’s game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. in Branchville.
