WHITMIRE — The Whitmire High School Wolverines lost Friday night 62-8 to the Lewisville High School Lions.
The Lions started out strong, and with 10 minutes on the clock they scored their first touchdown of the night. By the end of the first quarter the Lions led 24-0.
The second quarter showed promise for the Wolverines when Jaylen Brown ran 67 yards for a touchdown. The two point conversion pass from Holloman to Devin Vo was successful to make the score 24-8.
The Lions came back with force during the second quarter and scored two more touchdowns. The first half ended 40-8.
The second half saw the Lions score three more times, making the final score 62-8.
“I am very proud of our effort,” Head Coach Charlie Jenkins said. “Lewisville had 29 players and only one underclassman, a sophomore. If you check the lineup you will see we are starting a bunch of underclassman.
“We battled all night, it was really good crowd and a beautiful night,” he added. “I wish we could have put on a better show for the Hall of Fame inductees, but I hope they were proud of the effort they saw from the Wolverines.”
Whitmire is now 1-3. They travel to Branchville this week to take on the Yellow Jackets.
