PROSPERITY — The following are updates on athletics at Mid-Carolina High School.

Cross Country

The Mid-Carolina Cross Country Team took on the Clinton High School Red Devils on Aug. 23 at Mid-Carolina in a preseason meet. The Rebel girls completed the 3.1 mile course finishing in first place and third place.

First place went to ninth grader Maddie Huffstetler. Huffstetler ran the course in 23 minutes, 36 seconds. Third place went to ninth grader Cassi Murphy. Murphy finished the course in 24 minutes, 54 seconds.

The top Rebel boy was ninth grader Drew Bunce, who finished 12th with a time of 23 minutes, 47 seconds.

The Rebel Runners’ next meet will be the Eye Opener Meet in Spartanburg on Sept. 3. The Eye Opener features the top male and female runners in the state.

Volleyball

The Mid-Carolina High School junior varsity volleyball team recently defeated the Ninety Six High School JV team, 25-23 i in one game and 25-19 in a second game.
