Atwater brings state education superintendent campaign to Newberry

NEWBERRY — Sally Atwater continued her statewide listening tour as she took her conservative campaign for State Superintendent of Education to the Newberry area.While in Newberry, Atwater met with local leaders to discuss her campaign at Bill and Fran’s Restaurant, followed by visits to Newberry College and Newberry Academy to speak with students, teachers and parents.Newberry College was an important stop for Atwater as she toured her late husband Lee’s alma mater, and stopped by the Lee Atwater Practice Soccer Field that is named after her husband.“Newberry College was an important part of Lee’s life and this area meant a great deal to him,” Atwater said during her April 11 visit.
