Baxley was invited a number of years to the Oz events, the Oz-Stravaganza festival and the L. Frank Baum Foundation.Baxley began his interest in the Wizard of Oz in 1985 when he started playing Windham Classics Wizard of Oz adventure game for the old Apple IIie.
