Bulldogs defeat the Yellow Jackets

NEWBERRY — Going into the half, the Newberry Bulldogs led the Union County Yellow Jackets 21-14, but the momentum didn’t stop there.The Newberry High School Bulldogs took on the Union County Yellow Jackets Friday at home. With Union’s win against Gaffney last week, Head Coach Phil Strickland said the Bulldogs would need to bring their A-game to pull out the win.At the end of a quick first quarter, there were no points on the board for either team. The first play of the second quarter was a pass completion from Union County QB De’Arrius Smith to wide receiver Shi Smith, taking the Yellow Jackets within a few yards of Newberry’s end zone.
