Whitmire — After last weeks lost, the Whitmire Community School’s Wolverines looked to redeems themselves against Wagener-Salley High School’s War Eagles in tonight’s homecoming game.Redeem themselves they did when the Wolverines defeated the War Eagles tonight 28 to 14. The Wolverines started off well when they scored the first touchdown of the night during the first quarter with 11 minutes left on the clock. By the end of the second quarter, the Wolverines prevented the War Eagles from scoring and led 20 to 0. However, the War Eagles came back with a vengeance during the second half and by the fourth quarter had gained 14 points.

The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:— Likevis Rasheem Jackson, 21, of 16 Pine Valley Road, Newberry, was charged with simple possession of marijuana on Sept. 6. While assisting Highway Patrol with a traffic stop, Jackson informed deputies that he had marijuana in his possession. Deputies did find a small baggie of marijuana in his pocket, but because he cooperated the deputy only wrote him a ticket for simple possession of marijuana.
