WHITMIRE — Whitmire Community School’s Wolverines will meet Dixie High School’s Hornets in the team’s last away game of the regular season.The Wolverines hold a 3-5 overall record, and a 0-3 record in the region. The Hornets have a 4-4 overall record and a 3-1 record in the region.According to Coach Charlie Jenkins, the Hornets use a run first offense, similar to the Wolverines.“Will be a slug fest in the trenches,” Jenkins said.According to Jenkins, the roster size of the last three teams the Wolverines have played has been an issue. However, this will not be an issue with the Hornets.


City sets tax levy for reassessment year

NEWBERRY — Newberry City Council passed second reading Tuesday night on an ordinance to set the tax levy for the 2014-2015 fiscal year at 82.7 mills plus the 1.1 mill for debt service during a called meeting.The 2014-2015 fiscal year is a reassessment year.
