Wellness weekend scheduled for March
NEWBERRY — Newberry County Memorial Hospital is planning a weekend of wellness events that includes free health screenings, a run and walk and an Easter Egg hunt. This year is the ninth year the hospital has held the event, which will be March 29 and March 30. NEWBERRY COUNTY — The Newberry County School District’s Health Services states that beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, all students entering seventh grade must receive or have received a Tdap vaccine to attend school. The newly required Tdap vaccine protects students from tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough (pertussis). This vaccine is routinely recommended to be given at 11-12 years of age. NEWBERRY — A Newberry man pleaded guilty during a two-week term of General Sessions court to seriously injuring a man with a putty knife in 2012. Johnny Raymond McGaha, 52, of Cottage Lane, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and battery and was sentenced to 257 days in jail, time served.
