NEWBERRY — A female Newberry College student was struck over the weekend by a vehicle while she was in a crosswalk on Evans Street. Changes coming to Relay for Life
Relay for Life of Newberry County will have new hours and a survivor drop-in this year. This year the event hours have been change and the annual event will be on April 26 from 7 p.m. until midnight. In past years the event went from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at the Newberry High football field. Lady arrested for stealing from employer
NEWBERRY — Kimberly Sligh turned herself in Tuesday morning to the Newberry County Detention Center for stealing over $10,000 from her employer, according to Newberry Police Captain Kevin Atkins. Sligh was employed for over 10 years with Dr. John Long’s dentistry office in Newberry. According to Atkins, she made bond payment the same day. The Clerk of Court’s office did not receive the bond amount as of Tuesday afternoon.

Retired principal donates books to schools
NEWBERRY — Leila M. Caldwell, retired principal of Newberry Elementary School, donated 80 books in February which were divided between Gallman Elementary, Newberry Elementary and Newberry County School District’s Family Literacy Program in memory of her daughter, Leah K. Caldwell, and also in recognition of Black History Month. Caldwell’s daughter Leah was a former student at Gallman Elementary who died many years ago.
