NEWBERRY — Lifeguard training classes will be held from April 1 through April 6 at the Newberry County Family YMCA. The Newberry County School Board recognized Junior Scholar students from Mid-Carolina Middle Monday night. The program identifies eighth graders who score a 50 or above on the eighth-grade PSAT in verbal, math or writing or participated in the Duke University’s Talent Identification Program during their seventh-grade year or were identified as Duke TIP students. The students are: Keenan Boland, Ivy Crumpton, Jackson Delk, Preston Farmer, John Franklin, Juli Kinard, Anya Mundell, Rachel Richardson, Ryan Shealy and Hunter Werts. JENKINSVILLE — SCE&G will conduct a test of its V.C. Summer Nuclear Station siren warning system April 2 at about 1 p.m. During the test, SCE&G will sound the sirens located within a 10-mile radius of the V.C.
