Suspect caught after morning manhunt
CHAPIN — An armed man was taken into custody in the Chapin area after a manhunt started Thursday morning between Little Mountain and Chapin.
The search for Joseph E. “Joe” Derrick, 40, of 1796 Beagle Run Road in Chapin, began around 8:57 a.m. Thursday. He was armed with a 40-caliber handgun, said Todd Johnson with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department.
